Eyes can be deceiving in Thailand. If you notice that the very beautiful girl who has been eying you up is very tall, has broad shoulders, perfect breasts, narrow hips, large hands and feet, has an Adams apple and speaks with a low husky voice, she is probably a "Lady of the second category" in legal parlance, or "Ladyboy" to you and me. Unless this interests you, be very polite and leave, because if you get abusive towards them, they can suddenly flip and turn vicious.
Now if this is what you want, there are several bars in Walking Street, like Jenny Star Bar, where they hang out. The honest ones can be fun and entertaining. But respect them or you can be on the wrong end of a powerful punch. As someone once said, if you like a blow job, who knows better what a man wants than another man!
Also, if you make a genuine mistake and take one home, and find it is not the gender you want, we suggest you make a "Sorry for your time" payment of 500 Baht and show them the door. Make a big fuss and your body may be found the next day floating in the bay, minus your penis.
Sadly, other Ladyboys are the cause of much crime. Small gangs of them work along Beach Road and other isolates places at night. One will "dip" your pocket, hand the spoils to an accomplice, so when you realise and call the police, the evidence is gone. Best defence is to ignore them and keep walking, holding onto your valuables. The Police are trying to clean up this crime, but under Thai law, them most they can be charges with is "Impersonating a female", the fine for which is 100 Baht!
DO NOT INSULT THEM. Several recent cases in telling them to go away forcefully, has led the farang to be beaten up or stabbed, requiring hospitalisation.
Before you panic, they are not all like that. The "Girls" in Jenny Star Bar are not only the best looking "Girls" in Thailand, but fun as well, if you can handle it. Many bars now have katoeys working, who have come up from Phuket after the tragedy.
